New Patients

Dr. Ferguson is not currently accepting new patients for telemedicine visits.  This may change in the future. If you wish to be notified of any changes, please sign up here for Dr. Ferguson’s email list to receive newsletters and event notifications.

Established Patients

The appointment system will be changing in January 2018 to one through the patient portal at https://sarahferguson.md-hq.com. You will be able to connect to the schedule in the portal and request a specific time by clicking on the "Request Appointment" tab in the portal, which will then be confirmed.   You may choose consultation visits of either 25 or 55 minutes depending on your needs. You are encouraged to schedule 55 minutes if you have multiple issues to discuss. The 25 minute consultation should be reserved for follow-up visits or a single issue.  If you need help logging in please go to http://www.md-hq.com/help/accessing_pt_portal_account.  The login page also has links to reset your password.

Payment

The patient is responsible for payment at the time of service with mastercard or visa credit card. Dr. Ferguson is not contracted with insurance companies or other third party payors. In California, telemedicine visits are generally covered by PPO plans similar to office visits. I will continue to provide you with a superbill to submit to your plan if needed.

Medicare

Medicare does not provide coverage for telemedicine visits in our area. Our video/telephone visits will be fee for service and I will not be billing Medicare for you as I have in the past. Since our visits will no longer qualify for Medicare coverage, I will be terminating my contract with Medicare as of mid-January 2018. I will still be AN ORDERING AND REFERRAL PROVIDER which means that I will be authorized to order lab tests and medications for you as needed, many of which are covered by Medicare.

Telephone appointments are generally not covered by insurance at all. Payment for telephone appointments will be made with a credit card online at the time of scheduling.

Communication

Dr. Ferguson is now offering Integrative Medicine/Functional medicine Consultation visits through telemedicine video or telephone visits only. She does not provide service as a primary care provider. She requires that you have a primary care doctor for your routine and urgent care needs. If you have a non-urgent discrete question or office question, you may  email me at office@sarahfergusonmd.com or use the secure message option in the patient portal. Since there is no in-office staff, it may take up to 48 hours to receive a response. DO NOT SUBMIT URGENT MEDICAL MESSAGES TO THIS E-MAIL OR SECURE MESSAGING SYSTEM. Call your primary care doctor for urgent medical issues or call 911 for medical emergencies.

For most medical questions, an appointment is required. Established patients should go to "schedule an appt" to make a telemedicine video appointment or telephone appointment online.

Cancellation Policy

It is important that you keep your scheduled appointment or give more than 48 hours notice if you must change your appointment. For appointments canceled less than 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, you will be responsible for a charge equal to 50% of the visit fee.
